Miradouro do pináculo
Considered one of the most emblematic viewpoints of the city of Funchal, the viewpoint of Pinnacle, is located in Rua Conde Carvalhal. This Miradouro is situated at 283 meters of the sea level and offers one of the most magnificent views over the Bay of Funchal.
Miradouro Cristo Rei
The Miradouro do Cristo Rei, in Garajau, gives us an excellent view over part of the Bay of Funchal, the Garajau Reserve, the Caniço de Baixo and the Atlantic.
Located in Garajau, Miradouro do Cristo Rei, owes its name to the construction of the statue of Christ the King, which was erected as a fulfillment of a promise of the Counselor Aires de Ornelas.
The majestic statue is executed at the top of a hill that rushes in ravine towards the sea.
From this viewpoint we have an excellent panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean, the Garajau Nature Reserve, part of the Bay of Funchal and the Caniço de Baixo.
Opened in 2007, the Garajau Cable Car is located in Ponta do Garajau, where the iconic statue of "Cristo Rei" was built.This means of transport allows access to the beautiful beach of Garajau, a bathing area equipped with a small coffee shop and a diving centre where you can get to know the Garajau Marine Reserve.
Jardim Botânico
The Botanical Garden of Madeira, located in Funchal, boasts more than 2000 exotic plants from all over the world.
To the seventeenth century the desire to endow Madeira with a Botanical Garden, an ambition that was fulfilled in the year of 1960.
The Botanical Garden, with an area of more than 35 000 m2, is endowed with more than 2000 exotic plants from all continents, with some botanical species in danger of extinction. This fantastic garden consists of several ornamental trees and shrubs, an area with orchids, lawns, belvederes and an amphitheater for ludic activities.
In view of the growing loss of biodiversity and habitats worldwide, this garden has become a center of science and culture, with a view to the conservation of endangered plants that are here as well adapted as in their environment of origin .
